As President of Wave Welcome, Vennard Wright (PMP, ITIL v3 Practitioner) provides the leadership and strategic direction for all corporate initiatives. In this capacity, it is his responsibility to provide management for business development and client services to Wave Welcome’s operations by ensuring that service delivery is in full alignment with both short and long-term goals and objectives.
Prior to founding Wave Welcome, his professional IT experience was comprised of multiple senior leadership roles which included serving as CIO/VP of Operations for Iron Bow Technologies, CIO for the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC Water), CIO for Prince George’s County Government (MD), Director of Technology for Hillary Clinton during her successful United States Senate re-election campaign and subsequent 2008 Presidential Campaign, as well as serving as Director of Technology of Technology during Rushern L. Baker III’s successful run for County Executive of Prince George’s County, MD in 2010. He was also Chief Technology Officer and Technical Organization Delivery Manager for Electronic Data Systems (EDS), which was subsequently acquired by Hewlett Packard (HP).
Mr. Wright has also served as a volunteer and participated in numerous fundraisers and philanthropic efforts for various worthy causes. In addition to more than two decades of IT management experience, Vennard brings an equal amount of hands-on experience in working with young people through myriad avenues. His experience includes mentoring students in multiple settings. As a USA Track & Field (USATF) Level-One certified coach and USATF certified official, he has coached many young athletes into NCAA scholarships.
Because of his work in the technology industry, he has received numerous awards, authored multiple articles and spoken publicly on many topics, ranging from the importance of experiential learning in our educational systems to the changing role that emerging technology plays in future career prospects.
Mr. Wright also serves on a number of boards that help to widen his perspective on the latest methods for effectively applying digital technologies and best practices to solve common enterprise level problems. He is applying those same principles to solve some of the most vexing IT challenges in the Washington DC Metropolitan region.
Vennard Wright resides in Clinton, MD with his wife, Janelle, with whom he shares four amazing children.
VP of Strategic Operations
As the Senior Vice President of Business Development for Wave Welcome, Darryl Barnes regulates the development of all business partnerships as well as securing contracts with new customers, and ongoing contracts while maintaining the relationships with those customers outside of Wave Welcome. He is also responsible for managing business development and implementing Wave Welcomes execution and planning strategies in order to increase company growth.
Prior to joining Wave Welcome, Mr. Barnes has professional experience that includes 20 years of senior executive roles including fiscal, strategic, operations leadership and experience as an entrepreneur, small business owner, non-profit founder and community activist. Mr. Barnes is currently the president for Barnes International, Ltd, serving as the lead of operations which include global product management, network infrastructure, performing monthly evaluations, and long-range planning while overseeing 50 employees. Other leadership roles included serving as the Vice President (COO) for Enterprise & Portal Software Systems, LLC, Vice President/Marketing & Business Development for DataNet Systems, Program Manager for Signal Corp, Outside Plant (OSP) Operations Manager and Systems Administrator for AT&T, System Support Engineer Supervisor for e.spire, Inc, and Support Service Specialist for the Department of Health & Human Services.
Mr. Barnes has a diverse background in Information Technology, politics, and community activism. Darryl Barnes also serves as the Democratic member of the house of Delegates for Maryland’s 25th District since 2015 and is committed to working on issues related to education, economic development, human rights, reentry and criminal justice reform. Mr. Barnes has served in the United States Navy and Army for 6 years, and resides in Prince George’s County with his wife, Makeba and their two sons Dylan & Drew.
